Anna Twardon

Anna Twardon, M.A. LCSW,  is a graduate of Jagiellonian University (Clinical Psychology) and the New York University.  She completed three years of postgraduate training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Laboratorium Institute for Training and Psychoeducation  in Warsaw, Poland.

In New York, she trained in psychotherapy of addictions at the Outreach Project and in intensive, brief psychotherapy of acute psychiatric emergencies, inpatient and ER, at the Department of Psychiatry of Beth Israel Medical Center in New York.

She has worked for outpatient mental health services including substance abuse program, Outreach Project and mental health clinic, Brooklyn Psychiatric Centers.

She is currently an Analyst in Formation (AF) in Apres Coup Psychoanalytic Association .

Anna Twardon is licensed to practice in the New York State. She has been practicing psychotherapy since 2001, both in a private practice office and in outpatient clinics.  She specializes in psychodynamic psychotherapy of anxiety disorders, depression, substance abuse,  PTSD, stress of immigration, personality disorders and identity / Self problems related to bilinguality and in psychology of women. Her main professional interests are J. Lacan’s psychoanalysis and the function of language in the formation of Self and its role in the analytic cure.

She works with individuals, couples and families, both in English and in Polish.

She has been practicing Iyengar Yoga since 1992, currently at Iyengar Yoga Institute in New York and integrates selected yoga techniques with psychotherapy in her clinical work with patients.

She also worked for several years as a manager and business psychologist for multinational companies in Europe, including Finlandia Ballantine’s Group and Cadbury Schweppes.
